G2A, an Online Gaming Marketplace, Now Accepts Bitcoin through BitPay.

It is now official; the online gaming marketplace G2A has Bitcoin as one of the payment options you can use to buy games and other related digital goods. This follows the signing of a deal between the Hong Kong-based company and Bitpay, a Bitcoin payment processor.

In a statement, Bob Voermans, who is the G2A.COM’s Executive VP of Global Payments, has described Bitpay not only as a trusted partner but also as a great global payment method proposition the company is offering its customers.

He said, “In my estimation this partnership will increase growth for sellers due to the fact that customers will buy more often on the G2A.COM Marketplace.”

G2A is a major player in the gaming space

G2A has a claim as one of the largest platforms that bring together game developers, online game enthusiasts, consumers and enterprises. The company has reported facilitating close to five million transactions in 2014 and supporting about 6 million users in the same period.

The company handles over 700 thousand average monthly transactions while selling digital products in the gaming space such as games, software activation licenses, time-cards for online games, Xbox Live cards and PSN codes.

On his part Marcel Roelants, General Manager BitPay EMEA expressed optimism that G2A accepting Bitcoin will open more opportunities to the cryptocurrency.

Bitpay on the mission to make Bitcoin an everyday currency

Bitpay has been in the forefront in making bitcoin an everyday currency through helping merchants accept it.

Marcel said, “We are delighted to partner with G2A which will help us scale bitcoin payments to a broad gaming audience. By their nature, digital goods like games are borderless. Using bitcoin as a global payment method will complement the online experience.”
